Welcome to my blog! This being my first post, I thought I’d share my vision for the blog as well as the promises I make to you, dear readers. My plan is to share and discuss financial planning topics and articles that are interesting and applicable to you.
Here are my self-imposed ground rules for posting and content:
- Keep it short. Your time is valuable and life is busy enough as it is. My posts are intended to be beneficial, not a burden.
- Avoid financial jargon and buzzwords (unless I’m poking fun at them). No discussions of Sharpe ratios, collars, synergy, leveraging, etc. Those words and concepts mean little in relation to the success of a goals-based financial plan. Financial planning isn’t about investments. Investments are just the tools of the trade. Financial planning is about your life and achieving the goals that matter most to you! In fact, the only reason to invest is to accomplish some goal in the future. Otherwise, why do it?
- Do not overload your inbox or RSS feed with blog posts. I plan to post no less than once a month and no more than once a week.
- Keep it relevant. In this vein, please contact me with any personal finance question or topic that interests you; it might become the subject of a post. Feel free to contact me by any method on the Contact page. I’d love to hear from you! Plus it will help ensure I’m discussing the subjects that matter most. If it interests you, chances are it will be of interest to another one of my readers.
With that, I’ve concluded my first blog post. I told you I’d keep it short!
